Michael Danner’s photographic work entsorgt/disposed – Kernkraft in Deutschland (nuclear power in Germany) portrays all German power plants, the nuclear waste repository Asse-II and the pilot mine Gorleben. His photographs show architecture and technology that was designed to keep radioactive processes under control; they remind of images of traditional architecture as used in science fiction films depicting a different time that has been outdated by new technologies long ago. Danner has received numerous prizes (e.g. ZiF Photo Award of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF) at Bielefeld University and FOCUS-Die besten Wissenschaftsfotos (Best science photography)). His works are displayed in major collections (e.g. ARCO Foundation, Camera Austria and Deutsche Bank).

Mila Teshaieva’s series Rise and Fall of Caspian Sea focuses on countries on the border between Europe and Asia. Her mystical, melancholic images explore the interaction of mankind and nature in a region where the individual’s search for identity and the interests of Russia and the US in the battle for oil and gas clash spectacularly. Teshaieva received, among other awards, the NPPA first prize for Best Photojournalism and ran second for the Prix de la Photographie Paris. Her work has been published by Unicef, Die Zeit, IOM and others.

In his works Claudio Gobbi searches for key images of particular cultural regions. Using found images of Armenian church architecture and also taking his own, the artist explores in his series Armenie ville the connection between time, migration, different types of collective memory within photography and the question of authorship. So far Gobbi has exhibited his works in Italy, Greece, Japan and England and other countries. His works are displayed in MAXXI (Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI Secolo Rome), the state museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki, and other art collections.
